All In One ATtiny AVR Programmer

This is an easy to use and versatile programmer for all sorts of AVR microcontrollers. It is great for classic ATtiny’s like the ATtiny85 and ATtiny84, but also can program newer 0, 1, and 2 series ATtiny’s through UPDI like the ATtiny3226. ATmega microcontrollers also can be programmed like the ATmega328. Using the Arduino IDE, you can install the proper board definitions, connect the programmer to a computer using a USB-C cable, and program the chip as you would with any other Arduino board. It has many features and many different connectors to be able to adapt to all kinds of different chip packages including:

• IC sockets for DIP-8 to DIP-14 devices
• 16 pin header for an SMD clip that supports parts up to SOIC-16 mounted on a PCB or not
• 6 pin ISP header for ISP cables
• 3 pin header for UPDI programming

These connectors can be used alongside other adapters as well for even more versatility. There are also female headers beside the DIP sockets and the 16 pins header that can be used for prototyping without having to remove the chip. A 500mA polyfuse protects the programmer and the connected computer in case a chip is connected incorrectly or there is a short circuit.

There is a switch for powering the target or cutting power to it so that you can power it on its own or power reset a chip without manually removing it. A reset button is also included which will work for most chips. The other switch is the “programming type” switch which can be used to select between UPDI and ISP programming. There are many LEDs for indicating power, programming, and debugging: 2 LEDs for serial TX and RX on the programmer side, 3 LEDs for programming, errors, and standby on the programmer side, 1 LED for indicating if there is power on the programmer side, and 1 LED for the target chip that can be used as LED_BUILTIN (enabled for most of the connectors).
