Product Overview
This board uses a male USB Type C plug like the ones you can find on the end of a USB-C cable. It breaks out VBUS, GND, D+, D-, and CC1 from the connector to 2.54mm (0.1″) header pins for easy prototyping and incorporation into your projects. USB-C plugs only have one set of D+/D-/CC pins. This allows the connector to be plugged in either way, while still being functional and able to detect which way it is plugged in. This breakout board has a 5.1K resistor connected to the CC1 pin, so when connected it will request the upstream port to provide up to 1.5A at 5V.
For most instances you will only need to worry about the VBUS, GND, D+, and D- pins which can be hooked up as follows: VBUS to 5V, GND to ground, D+ to your device’s D+, and D- to your device’s D-. For normal uses you wont need to use the CC1 pin. There is a jumper located on the bottom of the board which disconnects the 5.1K resistor on the CC1 pin in case you need to use a different size. You can also access the connector’s shield which is electrically connected to both mounting holes.
