Product Overview
This board allows you to incorporate a USB 3.2 Gen 2 capable Type-C port into your projects. It breaks out all USB 2.0 data pins and all high speed data pairs of a female USB-C connector to 2.54mm (0.1″) header pins. If you are looking for a smaller USB-2.0 version, you can find it here. USB-C is a reversible connector which means you don’t need to worry about which side you try to plug it in on. USB-C connectors can also supply more power than the traditional USB-A port.
There are 5.1K resistors on both CC pins to indicate to the upstream port to provide up to 1.5A at 5V. Two solder jumpers are on the top of the PCB which can be cut to disable these resistors. You can use this board with USB 2.0 devices that only use VBUS, GND, D+, and D- pins which can be hooked up as follows: VBUS to 5V, GND to ground, D+ to your device’s D+, and D- to your device’s D-. Or you can use this board with USB 3.2 devices which require all pins to be connected besides SBU1 and SBU2 as well as CC1 and CC2 in most cases. It is important to note that TX pairs should not be connected to their respective RX pairs, as this is normally done in the USB-C cable. As an example, connect TX- to TX-, TX+ to TX+, RX- to RX-, RX+ to RX+, and so on with the rest of the pairs. You can also access the connector’s shield which is electrically connected to both mounting holes.
